Social Media is becoming more and more popular. Why? Because it works amazingly well to help you make your dreams come true. There’s a saying and it has been floating around the Internet for quite some time. It says, “People love to buy, but they don’t like to be sold.” This is where Social Media comes in. Most every member of the groups inside of Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and so on have a common goal: To Become Popular. Every person that joins in a group with you will see your links to your site. Your job is to make it interesting enough for them to actually click on your links. The biggest advantage is that all these visitors are free. What an amazing way to corral insane amounts of free traffic. So what is your investment in all this? Time.
Here are some tips on getting the most out of your Social Media experience:
1. Make sure you have interesting content on your website. The best way to do that in Social Media is to write about Social Media. Everyone wants to learn the best way to utilize the social sites to their advantage, so teach them your experience. Your experience is likely very interesting. Of course, don’t limit yourself to just the one topic. Just try to be unique in whatever topic you choose.
2. Try to be sociable. Although people in the social networks are likely all trying to promote their site and or products, it has been proven time and time again that becoming a friend gains more sales than a hard sales pitch with no social interaction. The reason is because people naturally want to help their friends succeed.
3. Try to be available. How many times have you sent an email to someone asking for more information, only to be let down with no response? If you want to be successful, then try to answer emails and inquiries as quick as possible. If you cannot do so, then sign up for an auto responder service. Just make sure and program in good information to respond to your targeted traffic.
4. Increase your presence on the web. This means, keep up the good work. Keep up with your blog posting. Try to not limit yourself to just one stream, i.e., one website. Strive to get involved in many different areas to improve your web presence. For example, when you start a website, accompany it with a blog. You can also have subdomains on your main domain which gives you a perfect opportunity to create landing pages to promote different products which translates into greater presence.
5. Don’t be afraid to take chances. Put yourself out there. Think positively about every Internet person you meet and become his or her friend. Chances are, they have a few insecurities also. To be successful, you need to forge ahead and don’t be afraid to have contact with as many people as possible.
6. Don’t limit how many people you interact with. If you want to make the big money, you need to be exposed to a mass amount of people every single day. It really works. I learned that you are allowed to join up to 15 communities per day on Yahoo’s MyBlogLog. Well, I strategically go there every single day and join my quota. I also visit the other Social Media sites as often as time allows and interact. The point is to expose yourself and see what other people are up to. Praise them on their hard work. Try to come up with creative things to say to them. Instead of leaving a message like “Thanks for the add.” Try saying, “Thank you for the connection. I hope you become very successful.” That will bring people back to you because you feel they want to see you succeed. Try very hard to avoid a hard sell approach. It doesn’t work in realtime, nor does it work on the Internet.
7. Don’t be afraid of controversy. I made a controversial blog post awhile back and it made it’s way onto Digg. I had so many comments with people posting their strong opinions there about it. Well, don’t let this kind of thing drag you down or make you feel like quitting. Welcome it with open arms, because people are noticing you. They are actually seeing what you are writing. This is a good thing. Controversy is etched in your memory more than a soft, gentle item. If you want to see the post I’m referring to, then send me an email through my website link below.
8. Be approachable. If you want to make it big, then be available and approachable. Open yourself up to helping others succeed, and you will succeed in a big way. I recently read a post where the writer encourages people to share their secrets of their success instead of bottling it up inside. I know that keeping your successful tips secret seems the right thing to do, but I can see where sharing them would be more beneficial to your success. If you have really helpful, useful information for people to learn from, they will return to you time and time again to learn from you.
Give these tips a try, and soon your dreams will come true.
